This calculator uses empirical formulas based on hundreds of drone builds to estimate the total weight and recommend appropriate frame sizes and motors. Our calculation takes into account:

  • Frame Size: The diagonal motor-to-motor distance affects the base weight of your frame.
  • Payload Weight: Any additional equipment you plan to carry (cameras, sensors, delivery packages, etc.).
  • Battery Weight: Often one of the heaviest components, directly impacting flight time.
  • Motor Configuration: Different motor counts (quad, hex, octo) have different weight distributions and lifting capacities.

The weight estimation uses a regression formula W_tot = α·Frame^β + W_payload + Σ(components), derived from real-world drone builds and manufacturers' data.
